Screenwriter Charged with Assault

A cyclist who is claiming that he was strangled until he was unconscious by a taxi cab driver after getting in a road crash on Oxford Street is appealing to any witnesses who have seen the incident in order to clear his name.

39-year-old Jared Kelly, a screenwriter, said that he has been a whirlwind of unfortunate events after he regained consciousness. He was handcuffed by the authorities and then charged for assaulting the cab driver.

Kelly claimed that the driver was the one who should be charged, as he strangled him using his own scarf after he got into an altercation with the driver for being knocked off of his bike. He said that the taxi cab driver swerved in front of him, causing him to fall off his bike.

Although the incident was recorded on the CCTV cameras of the Westminster Council, apparently, the footage was subsequently deleted.

Kelly is now in search for individuals or any passersby in the area on the day of the incident who can serve as witnesses to the driver’s assault on him.

He is hoping that his name would be cleared, after having to deal with a hefty legal bill and a tremendous amount of distress.

He has left his employment and was supposed to leave the country for a research trip that has also been put on hold indefinitely because of the incident. His solicitor has warned him that legal costs may reach up to £5,000, that is, if he is found to be not guilty.
