Minibus Hire
If you’re travelling as part of a large group, it can be difficult to get around in a standard car. But if you still want the freedom of being able to drive yourself, for example on holiday or to a special event, then minibus hire can provide a viable and cost effective alternative.
Booking Your Minibus
Minibus hire is a perfect choice for a number of situations including:
- Family holidays,
- Travel to a wedding,
- Sightseeing,
- Airport transfers,
- Special events.
Whatever the reason for booking a minibus, be sure to do so in advance to avoid disappointment. Since you need a very specific size of vehicle, setting up the booking well ahead (around three months in advance) means you’ll be guaranteed the minibus you need for your journey. Before you book, make sure you know how many people you’ll be booking for and how much luggage you’re likely to bring.
How Many People Can You Seat?
Where traditional cars can generally only seat five people (at a squeeze with luggage), minibuses come in a range of different sizes. They generally start at six spaces and can even seat as many as sixteen depending on your needs. They also come in a wide range of models, meaning you’ll always have a large choice. Just remember, if you have a lot of luggage then you may need a vehicle that can accommodate the equivalent of a few extra people!
You’ll also need to decide whether to get a minibus you can drive yourself, or one that comes with a driver (useful if you’re planning on drinking alcohol!) Talk to the hire company directly to find out the kind of driving license required – larger minibuses may require more than a standard car licence.
What Can You Expect?
The cost will vary from company to company. Take your time to phone up for a variety of quotes if you’re on a budget. Some companies will have luxury style vehicles or budget vehicles to suit what you’re looking for and help you to spend only what’s necessary.
Some of the luxuries that come with minibuses these days include television screens, DVD players, air conditioning, video games consoles and toilets. This all depends on the size. For example, a small six-seater minibus is less likely to come with a toilet than a larger vehicle. If you’re not sure about what you want then most hire companies will be more than happy to give you a rundown of their services, and show you pictures of the vehicles.
The Rental Company
Lastly, make sure that the hire company is fully licensed. They should be able to advise you on any paperwork and insurance needed for your rental. And, if hiring a minibus with a driver, you should check they have the right driving license for the job.
